Weeko Focus Privacy Policy

Welcome to Weeko Focus (the "Software").

The Software is developed by Weeko Team ("we" or "us"). It is a macOS menu bar Pomodoro timer and focus management tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Software processes, where it is stored, which macOS capabilities it uses, and how you can manage related data.

Key point: Weeko Focus does not require an account or sign-in. Task names, timer state, focus records, and app settings are stored on the current Mac. The Software does not provide a feature that uploads this data to Weeko Team, syncs it through the cloud, or uses it for advertising. Limited information may leave the device only when you open the feedback page, use or restore an App Store purchase, allow Apple to share diagnostics, or contact us through a browser or email.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the Weeko Focus macOS app and the local features it directly provides. Actions performed through the Apple App Store, email, our website, or other external services may also be governed by the policies of the relevant service provider.

2. Data Processed on Your Mac

2.1 Focus Records

To provide the Today overview, trends, calendar, task and goal statistics, and history, the Software stores focus records in the current user's Application Support directory. A record may include:

  • A record identifier;
  • Task name;
  • Focus start and end times;
  • Planned and actual focus duration;
  • Status, such as completed, completed early, ended, or interrupted unexpectedly;
  • Time zone, creation time, and update time.

You can search, filter, rename, and delete individual records, or clear all focus records. Related statistics are updated after a record is changed or deleted. You can also export all records or the current filtered results as a CSV file.

2.2 Settings, Shortcuts, Presets, and Recent Tasks

The following information is stored in the current macOS user's preferences:

  • Focus, short-break, long-break, and long-break interval settings;
  • Automatic start rules;
  • Daily and weekly goals, including local goal-policy change history;
  • Notifications, sounds, and focus panel behavior;
  • Global shortcuts;
  • Saved presets;
  • Recent tasks, hidden-task state, and related durations;
  • Timer recovery state for an active session;
  • Language, launch-at-login, Dock icon, and menu bar preferences.

This information is used only to provide settings, quick start, statistics, task management, and state recovery on your Mac.

2.3 Content Visible on Screen

The menu bar and focus panel may display the current task, remaining time, today's statistics, goals, and recent tasks. This content may be visible to others during screen sharing, screen recording, or use in a public environment. Consider whether a task name should contain sensitive information.

3. Accounts, Cloud Sync, and Advertising

The current version:

  • Does not provide a Weeko Focus account system;
  • Does not require registration or sign-in;
  • Does not provide cross-device cloud sync;
  • Does not provide automatic cloud backup or cloud recovery;
  • Does not provide a feature that uploads task names, focus records, recent tasks, or app settings to Weeko Team;
  • Does not use focus data for advertising, cross-app tracking, or user profiling.

If a future version introduces a feature that requires network or cloud processing, we will explain the relevant data use before the feature is enabled and update this Policy as required by applicable law.

4. Full-Screen Breaks and Away Protection

4.1 Full-Screen Breaks

A full-screen break can cover connected displays, hide the Dock and menu bar, and restrict app switching to help you step away from your workspace. This feature does not record the screen or read or upload desktop content.

4.2 Away Protection

Away protection covers the screen and pauses the current focus session or break. The previously paused timer can resume after you exit.

Away protection is an app-level full-screen shield. It is not the macOS system lock screen and does not provide the same security guarantees. Use the macOS system lock screen when leaving the Mac for an extended period or when the device contains sensitive information.

4.3 Touch ID and System Password

When exiting a full-screen break or away protection, the Software may invoke macOS Local Authentication so the system can verify Touch ID or the Mac login password. Weeko Focus does not receive or store fingerprint data or the password in plain text. If the device has no login password, the Software permits a direct exit and cannot provide an effective access barrier.

5. System Permissions and Capabilities

Depending on the features you enable, Weeko Focus may use these macOS capabilities:

  1. Notifications: Sends system alerts when a focus session, break, or goal finishes. You can deny permission, disable notifications, or change the permission in System Settings.
  2. Sound and haptic feedback: Provides local operation and completion feedback.
  3. Login item: Launches the Software when you sign in to macOS only after you enable Launch at Login.
  4. Global shortcuts: Responds only to the key combinations configured for the focus panel, timer control, and away protection. It does not record ordinary keyboard input.
  5. Local Authentication: Verifies exit from full-screen breaks and away protection.

You can manage these permissions and settings in the Software or macOS System Settings. Denying a permission affects only the feature that depends on it.

6. App Store Purchases and Pro Entitlements

Weeko Focus may offer annual and lifetime Pro products through the Apple App Store. Apple processes purchases, payments, subscription management, refunds, transaction records, and Apple IDs.

The Software uses StoreKit to obtain product information, current transactions, and entitlement status supplied by Apple so it can display purchase options, determine whether Pro is available, and restore purchases. We do not collect or store your card number, Apple ID password, or full payment credentials.

7. Feedback, Website Access, and Information You Provide

7.1 Opening the Feedback Page

When you open the feedback page from the app, Weeko Focus adds the following basic diagnostics to the page URL:

  • Mac model;
  • macOS version;
  • Weeko Focus version and build number;
  • App interface language.

The URL does not contain task names, timer state, focus records, recent tasks, goals, shortcuts, or other app settings. Opening the feedback page is an action you initiate. When a browser connects to the website, hosting and network providers may also process ordinary connection information, such as the IP address, browser or device information, and access time, to establish the connection, protect the service, and diagnose failures.

7.2 Contacting Us

If you contact us through support@weeko.net, the feedback page, or another channel, you may choose to provide:

  • An email address or other contact details;
  • A problem description;
  • Screenshots, attachments, or diagnostic information.

We use this information only to respond, investigate problems, protect security, and improve the product. Remove task names, screen content, or other sensitive information that you do not want to disclose before sending anything.

7.3 Apple Diagnostics

If you allow diagnostics to be shared with developers in macOS, Apple may provide crash reports or aggregated diagnostics through App Store Connect. Apple controls their collection, retention, and de-identification. We use them only for stability analysis and do not intentionally use this channel to collect task names or focus records.

8. Retention, Deletion, and Export

Core data remains on the current Mac and is controlled by you:

  • Delete individual focus records from History;
  • Clear all focus records;
  • Search, filter, or rename individual records;
  • Change or remove presets, shortcuts, and other preferences;
  • Disable notifications, login items, and other system capabilities in macOS;
  • Remove the app and its local container data according to macOS instructions.

The Software can export all focus records or the current filtered results as a CSV file. The export may include the record identifier, task name, start and end times, planned and actual durations, status, time zone, and creation and update times. The file is written only to the location you choose and is not uploaded by Weeko Focus. After export, the file is outside the app's local container. You are responsible for storing, sharing, or deleting it and should check for sensitive task names before sharing.

The current version does not provide cloud backup or cloud recovery. We may be unable to restore records after local data is deleted, macOS is reinstalled, the device is replaced, or a disk fails. You may use a system-level backup tool such as Time Machine to protect local data.

Information you voluntarily provide through email or feedback channels is retained only as long as needed to respond, investigate problems, protect security, improve the product, or meet necessary legal obligations. You may ask us at support@weeko.net to delete information you submitted, except where retention is required by law or necessary for security.

9. Information Security

We reduce risk through local-first processing, limited network access, and macOS security capabilities. No software, device, or storage medium can guarantee absolute security. Set a reliable login password on your Mac and use the macOS system lock screen when appropriate.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this Policy to reflect feature changes, legal requirements, or App Store rules. The updated version will be published on our website or in the Software, and the date at the top will be changed. Material changes in data processing will receive additional notice or consent where required by applicable law.
